Hello to the Seymour Public School Community,
I can hardly believe that it has been four months that I have served as your Superintendent. It has been truly and a pleasure and honor for me to serve in this positon. As we know, the first part of the 2017-2018 school year has gone by quickly, and it has been a very exciting time. By now, all of you have been invited to visit your children’s schools as well as to meet with your children’s teachers during parent conferences. All of our schools have completed their first quarter and are well into our second. The elections are over, and we welcome our two new Board members and look forward to their insight and support of public education here in Seymour.
During this special time of year, I often reflect on how truly thankful I am. I am thankful to be a part of a wonderful community that values education and cares about the learning environment unto which you send your children. As a school district, there are many things for which we are all thankful, and I want to take this opportunity to share just a few of them with you: We are thankful for our students who come to school every day prepared and ready to learn. Your children provide us with a daily reminder of what is important and why we are here. We are thankful for the support of you, the parents, in creating an outstanding partnership for our students. We are thankful for our Team (administrators, teachers, paraprofessionals, custodians, bus drivers, secretaries, nurses, food services, lunchroom aides, and our support staff) who really care about student achievement and have the best interests of our students at heart. We are also thankful for our volunteers who enthusiastically contribute so much to our school.
In these most difficult and challenging times, we have witnessed firsthand the dedication of these tireless individuals who go above and beyond to make sure that great things are taking place within all of our schools. These dedicated individuals truly do make a difference for all of our children. My Central Office Team is very appreciative of the hard work that all of our Team members do each and every day.
Most importantly, we are thankful for you, the parents that have kept the faith in us. You continue to share your most valuable possession with us. Your support and appreciation are truly appreciated and help to keep us going. You work hard and advocate to be a partner in your children’s education, safety, and well-being. For this, we are ever so thankful.
My Central Office Team and I would like to wish all of you and your families a very happy, healthy and relaxing Thanksgiving holiday!
With great pride,
Michael Wilson, Superintendent
