Superintendent
August 26, 2021
Dear Seymour Public Schools Community;
I am truly honored and humbled to begin my service as your new superintendent for the Seymour Public Schools. I would like to express my deepest appreciation and gratitude to the Seymour Board of Education in selecting me as your new leader and officially hiring me on August 16, 2021. Also, I wish to thank the Seymour Board of Education for designing a truly rigorous and thorough interview process, along with the opportunity of providing forums for input with the public as well. You already have an outstanding school system, and with our vision together we can take the Seymour Public Schools to be one of the top premier school districts in the nation. I am looking forward to partnering with our administration, staff, students, parents and school community to ensure that we meet the district’s mission which is to fully know our students as learners, to educate and inspire them through a range of experiences that reflect high expectations for learning and prepare them to meet the challenges of an ever changing world, and to always put student first.
I extend a sincere welcome for this new school year, as our reopening day for all students is on Wednesday, September 1, 2021. The “back-to-school” phenomenon affects all of us, and therefore we wish to extend a “welcome message” to the entire community even during this unprecedented time in dealing with a pandemic. We are excited to open our doors for in person learning and to have a normal school year as much as possible. Back-to-school is a time of new beginnings, from little ones walking into school for the first time as kindergarten students to high school seniors quickly approaching graduation, as well as teachers and administrators all eager to teach, lead and inspire.
Please, join our board of education, administrators, staff, parents, students, and the entire community in our efforts to continue “Celebrating Success and A Legacy of Excellence” in the Seymour Public Schools. Always remember, that education works best when it is a partnership between administration, staff, students, families and community. I encourage you to visit our websites and I am extremely excited to call the Seymour Public Schools my new home, and I look forward to our work together on behalf of our students.
Sincerely,
Dr. Susan E. Compton
