Dear Seymour Families, Parents and Friends,
On behalf of the Seymour Public Schools, we are excited to welcome you to the 2023-2024 school year and to reopen our doors for all students on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. I hope you are relaxed, recharged and ready to start a new school year.
Back-to-school is a time of new beginnings, from little ones walking into school for the first time as kindergarten students to high school seniors quickly approaching graduation, as well as teachers and administrators all eager to teach, lead and inspire.
I am so delighted that you too are part of our school community, and I always welcome and value your positive energy and dedication to excellence in education.
I am very proud to call Seymour, “Home of the Seymour Champions - today’s students and tomorrow’s leaders.” We have an outstanding school system, and together we will make the Seymour Public Schools one of the top premier school districts in the nation. I am looking forward to a continued partnership with our administration, staff, students, parents and school community to ensure that we meet the district’s mission which is to fully know our students as learners, to educate and inspire them through a range of experiences that reflect high expectations for learning and prepare them to meet the challenges of an ever changing world, and to always put student first.
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Mr. Keith O’Rourke, the new Principal of Seymour Middle School, Mr. Ernie DiStasi, who is the Assistant Principal of Chatfield-LoPresti School, Ms. Stacey Long, Assistant Principal and current Interim Principal to Bungay, Mr. Ed Henry, our new District Security Director, along with many other new staff that will be joining our school community and for making Seymour their home-“Home of the Seymour Champions - today’s students and tomorrow’s leaders.”
We look forward to partnering with you and working with your children. Each school principal is planning to have an orientation for students new to the school.
- Preschool and kindergarten students are welcome to attend orientation at Bungay Elementary School on Monday, August 21, 2023 at 12:00 noon.
- Chatfield-LoPresti Elementary School is planning a kindergarten orientation on Monday, August 21, 2023 at 10:15 a.m.
- Seymour Middle School is planning a sixth grade orientation at 8:30 a.m. or 12:30 p.m. on Friday, August 25, 2023.
- Incoming freshmen are welcome to attend a freshman orientation at Seymour High School on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at 10:00 a.m.
Please, join our board of education, administrators, staff, parents, students, and the entire community in our efforts to continue “Celebrating Success and A Legacy of Excellence” in the Seymour Public Schools.
Always remember, that education works best when it is a partnership between administration, staff, students, families and community. I encourage you to visit our website, see the wonderful happenings in our schools, and be involved in our school community. I look forward to our work together on behalf of our students.
